"Computer models suggest that warmer-than-normal conditions will replace the wintry weather over the next week or two."

And, yet, their same computer models didn't have 'Average Temps for Whole Month of November in The Lower 48 States of 31.3 degrees Which is More than 10 degrees Below Average' on their Fall '23 Bingo Cards.

* I should note that 31.3 deg Fahrenheit is just below freeezing, slightly sub-0 degrees Celsius. If 'Journalismists were Global Coolers, the headline would read: "Average Temps sub-Zero for entire Month of November in Lower 48 States."

For the record, I see myself as a Luke Warmer.

"Is it time to release the carbon dioxide, peeps?"

This would be exactly how we'll do things when we're in the Global Cooling Period.

"but I hear the universe is *still* expanding"

After that Badmitton Knee Tweak he just can't keep the weight off.

[Arthur:] “But what about the End of the Universe? We'll miss the big moment."

"I've seen it. It's rubbish," said Zaphod, "nothing but a gnab gib."

"A what?"

"Opposite of a big bang. Come on, let's get zappy.”

I saw that. I chuckled. What Ms. Bowles doesn't understand is HRC would turn on Nellie's "side" in a half a heartbeat if she thought it would benefit her. She'd be calling Hamas heroes if she thought that was the way the political wind was really blowing.

But then again she seems to be in love with Gavin Newsom, who with HRC and Kamala are in a three way race for the fakest person on the planet.

I want to like the whole Bari Weiss project but she, and her staff, just aren't quite red pilled.

Expand full comment
author

Bari Weiss and Bill Maher (and liberals like them) still think they can "save" the Democrat Party because they're still locked in that spectrum mindset and actually believe the parties are different and the Democrats are liberal rather than a political power machine with a liberal facade.

As for Nellie Bowles, I think she legitimately thinks the center is the healthy part instead of understanding the center of this thing is the rot.

Expand full comment

No, they aren't, but most of the time it's where I get my "other" info. Every year when it's up for renewal, I consider cancelling, then don't. I've subscribed to Bari pretty much since she quit NYT. I respected her for that, and continue to, but she's too liberal to read all the time. Lots of time I just skim.

Expand full comment

Bari Weiss et al is still transitioning from modern to classical liberalism. It's good to reward her for this by continuing your support, but Taibbi, The Federalist (among many others), and RealClearPolitics (especially for the "oppo research", not to mention the jarring juxtaposition) are the resources of our revolution, imo.

"transitioning from modern to classical liberalism"

Yes, this, or they're caught in between, not understanding that there is a difference and actually the two are diametrically opposed.

Expand full comment

Yep. Not to offend anyone, but most 60's Leftists haven't figured out that they are on the Right today, because most of them still put Fascism on the wrong endpoint.

[Hitler and Mussolini were LEFTISTS (100% State control, zero-zip-nada individual agency). The Fascist Adolf was simply getting rid of the competition when he went after the Fascist Joseph P.

There can be only 1 (one) King.]*

Young peeps today have been taught by their indoctrinators on the (Marxist) Left that Fascism (another word for *crony*-capitalism) is the right endpoint, so they don't differentiate between the neo-con Republicans and us Classical Liberal (another term for true Capitalism) Republicans.

Sorry to go on repeating myself so, and

* Sorry for saying "Hitler", but...he *is* the archetypical Authoritarin Socialist (yet *another* term for Fascist.)

Edit: added a closing parenthesis. 8>)

I almost subscribed early on, and still go there regularly, but I like your "other" idea.

I had paid for an NYT Online subscription for years because it should be the Paper of Record. It just got to be too much crap to wade through.

Then I found out how to read paywalled articles: http://archive.ph/

I won't do it for Substack or other subs I pay for. I'm a capitalist. But I'm pretty well confident that NYT is a quasi-BigFedGov Op and doesn't need my support.

It was pretty freaky. We were in bed and Dante the Husky Dawg was up with us, as he is sometiems in the first part of the night. We're watching TV but the light's out. Mrs. Pi's already lightly snoring on her side. I'm reading my phone and thought the TV flashed. A short time later it happened again but this time Dante popped up and lunge-bit like he was trying to chase off a bug.

A couple more flash-lunges and I realized something was flying circles around the ceiling fan - which is centered basically on My Woman's feet in bed. I calmly explained to her that there was a bat flying over our heads. She, less than calmly, was standing in the hall screaming a mere 2.3 seconds later.

Internet said to open a window, turn off the lights, and close the bedroom door. We slept in the living room and it was gone by morning.

... He or one of his buddies was flying circles across the Kitchen-Nook-Family Room section after dinner a few evenings later. Not again after that but we never found out where he/they came in from or why they stopped.

Our $30K tax bill seems pretty small to some other folks. Never mind, between the terms of the final payment plan, the changes in rules for third-party payment processors, its own errors in applying payments to the wrong years – I was only a missed payment away from being charged with income tax evasion. It wasn't until we divorced and I relocated to Texas that my refunds were applied to the outstanding balance, and the debt was finally paid off.
