Why hold up a flag for the country you left to come here and burn the flag of the country to which you came? Granted they're saying that it's Americans holding up the Mexican flag, but are they also the ones burning ours? Why would anyone want to come to a country to burn that country's flag? I just don't understand, and never will.

I have a feeling a lot of those people waving flags and burning them are Americans. They just want license to act out.

The thing about the riots in 1992 is that was cause to be angry against the city, but here it's been quite clear that the likes of Bass and Newsom have been quite favorable and sympathetic to the L.A. crowd, only really short of mobilizing local forces against ICE. Yet somehow people think destroying their own city is the best way to get at outsiders for coming into your town? Like you said, it's clear that some of the rioters are only using the circumstances as an excuse to riot rather than a reason. It's fast approaching Philadelphia territory.

There's also been talk that the deployment of the national guard should have been delayed to let Bass and Newsom sit in the mess they made, but in terms of minimizing the damage it seems to be the right move (marines are maybe a bridge too far). A surprising traversal of the high road by Trump, though it very well might have just coincided with him wanting a show of force.

Trump wanted to be a hero and have a show of force. I have no illusions about him. Yes, the marines were a step too far, but that seems to be a theme for the last decade or so: one side constantly pushes the envelop and then the other side and back and forth.

How about Trump doesn’t want this madness proceeding from city to city with total destruction in its wake as the involved parties (CCP, Islamists, Soros, Gates, Marxists, et al. The anti-American … destroy the U.S.A. brigade) always do?? Maybe he’s attempting to get ahead of it seeing as no other recent President/Governor has made the effort generally in the predominantly Blue cities. Maybe he’s representing the 80% of the American citizens who are FOR the policies he ran on.

You give him more credit than the rest of us, but it all ends the same place. The LAPD definitely didn't have it under control.

While I want to say if they are illegals and well established here and have been for years, why for the love of all that is holy did they not start the process to be a citizen? Why are they well established in a country they have no residency in? Sorry but if you are that 1) lazy to go start the process, or 2) entitled to think you can just live in a country illegally than your stupid ass deserves to be deported!

That's what I keep thinking -- and I know too many legal immigrants, who did all the paperwork, paid all the money and went through the process the right way, to just shrug off those who cut into line.

I was in my late teens when they happened. The only thing I can remember my parents saying was "Why would you burn your *own* neighborhoods? What is that going to get you?" Nothing much changes.

"The cans contain full-sugar soda"

Is that really a thing I could get? Like, real sugar or HFCS?

I love Passover when the yellow-capped real-sugar Cokes are in the stores.

One of the more disturbing aspects of late-stage capitalism is this pre-diabetic to diabetic pipeline with soda, where the diet version largely exists to surfeit people who've spoilt themselves on the real thing.

The sheer audacity to sell the problem and the solution in the same product line.

And with pharmaceuticals of the likes of barbiturates and benzodiazepines, you can sometimes even find the problem and the solution neatly bundled into a single product.

Oh and have restful vacation. Time away from shouting dome of the internet and current events reminds you how much more to life there is.
