"I think the problem is that they're spending so much that they have to find ways to make up the revenue." You know, I think you might be on to something there.
lately a farmer friend of my dad (in Belgium) told him he needs a secretary to keep up with all the paperwork. They need to report to the govt what has been planted on which parcel of land, prices etc, how much harvest and so on... farmer who wants to do this himself has no time to farm. Crazy all over the world is spreading like a virus.. oh wait...
I used to go to Beerse, Belgium often. The people I worked with and met there were very professional and down-to-earth. Strange how they also seemed to get leaders that didn’t represent their values.
Yes, a lot of the really good senior directors that I worked with there had come up through the ranks and were well respected by their staff and executives. The less good were shifted to HR often. US poor performers were laid off every other year but we could do that in Belgium or most of EU. UK was more difficult than US also. Belgium HR department was the DEI of its day. 😂😳. But the Belgium medical, scientific, technical and data staff were best of world.
when I was a kid Belgium was great. It was part of Benelux, and our 3 small countries were very well to do. Then France and Germany joined and that was still okay. but when they started with the EU, things went from bad to worse, with the Euro the top of the iceberg. I left shortly after, in 2003. My German friend said that prices there had doubled. In Belgium they had at least rizen by 25 to 30 %. Healthcare went down the ditch, financial institutions instead of giving interest now charge to have an account. You have to pay to get your money... sad, sad, sad. USA is not much better, but I have a feeling I escaped just in time LOL. At least with what little I had, I managed to buy a cabin on a small wooded lot, my childhood dream.
You make an excellent point regarding the un-documents illegals are not required to file. Our government definitely needs to get rid of all of these alphabet agencies, especially those that basically do the same thing as other alphabet agencies. If it were not for government employees, I have to wonder what the true unemployment rate would be. I'm so sick of the double standard for taxpayers versus non-taxpayers. I would never be brave enough to try it, but it sure would be tempting to just ignore crapola like this notice you received.
I very carefully perused the Corporate Transparency Act. With special attention to the twenty-three exemptions set forth therein. And diligently looked up all the bureaucratic bafflegab, and redundant verbiage, to ensure that I understood, insofar as I am capable, what it is that they are trying to say.
The only conclusion I can reach, the only interpretation, is that this act represents a brilliant legislative triumph! It that out lords and masters have, in a single bill, dramatically increased regulatory compliance costs for small business, (working, of course, toward the apparent goal of eliminating same). AND, enabled the creation of a whole new sub-department. Think of it! Thousands of bureaucrats. Duplicating, exactly, the so-called “work” of thousands of other bureaucrats. And creating another, as yet unnamed, enforcement organization. With undefined terms of reference, and yet to be enumerated powers. But given, in legislation, a truly draconian club to wield – the threat of a $100,000 fine, or two years in prison for “failure to comply”.
And, lastly, in another stroke of pure genius, the exclusions include specifically the sectors that generate by far the greatest percentage of prosecutions for all varieties of financial crime, fraud, money-laundering, and stock manipulation. (And, and including, purely by coincidence, contributors to political causes.)
Your summary I think is spot on - this is designed to get fewer and fewer people working outside the frame of massive corporations. It's about control and eliminating competition for labor - soon we won't have any choice - work for Corporate America, or starve. That's how the Nazis did it. We're verging on having less economic freedom than the average North Korean.
I think the economic and political strategy has been in place for decades and is essentially some combination of Fascism (where the nation maximizes control over economic assets), Socialism (oligarchy minimizes wealth to the proletarian and maximizes wealth to themselves) and Communism (oligarchy maximizes wealth to themselves and minimizes wealth to the proletarians). (Yes the last two are the same).
US Gov encourages large global corporations via a variety of laws, subsidies, programs and prejudicial practices aimed at reducing competition from within and without. Rest of world does it to a greater degree or more obviously; witness all of EU, Russia, China, all of Africa and nearly all of South and Central America. US had a good run but the death rattle is on.
It would be fantastic if a large majority of business owners realized that the crooks in DC don't have the manpower to come after all of you if you say "nah".
The sooner everyone realizes that the Federal government hates you and is your enemy, and acts accordingly, the quicker this ends.
That second sentence. No, they are not your friends. They're not even benevolent dictators. They're just farmers cultivating the very expendable livestock.
This has actually been slowly accelerating for quite awhile but now it’s accelerating. Covid was a trigger. Getting rid of the small entrepreneur has become the feature, not a bug.
When I started out I decided I needed an attorney and a financial guru. I’m not someone who necessarily likes to deal with mundane details. Fortunately I got pros in both areas. My attorney is my best friend and my financial guru is my brother in law.
I used to dabble in a lot of small business stuff but have given up most of it because of things like you’re talking about. The administration of running a business requires knowledge of so much minutia you don’t actually have time to make a living.
It’s much easier to find safe havens for your assets than it is to actually acquire them. I don’t know if I read the comment correctly but if someone said to ignore this and see what happens, don’t do that. They will eventually get around to you and although you won’t be put in jail, you will be assessed heavy penalties. I’m sure you realize all that though.
Unfortunately, I have too much to lose to ignore it. Though it is making its way up to SCOTUS. So I'll wait until later in the year and see if anything comes of that.
Start posting on the Internet using your real name instead of a bullshit screen name before you start lecturing people on having too much to lose. Pathetic.
You and Dan keep making the point that anyone who comments without using their full real name is a coward and pathetic. You both make this point on several occasions and times. That means people like PI, Mark, Andy, Tex, me are cowards and pathetic. Good to know. Why not require full name and SSN as requisite for posting comments here?
I assume this “bullshit screen name” applies to others like PI, Tex, Andy, Mark, me since we also don’t use our full real name. I encourage Lil to implement that policy of allowing comments only from those who use their full name on her stack. Real names only for posting comments. I am onboard with that starting now. Although it seems like you only play that card when don’t like the comment. That is, you don’t play it when you do like the comment. Inconsistent.
First, before I start, you need to ask yourself why you even typed this. You may learn something about yourself.
Now to address your points. You weren’t even a part of that thread. I’m not sure why you feel the need to involve yourself at all. Read through it. It’s very self explanatory.
Second you really owe LG an apology. You lumped us both together. She said what she said regarding using screen names in the context of the thread itself. You’ve been reading her longer than me. I’ve never heard her express anything negative about any of you calling yourselves anything you wanted to. That’s been my thing. She’s always been nice and engaging with all you and quite frankly didn’t deserve the garbage you hit her with.
Thirdly you can assume whatever you like. Unfortunately I don’t set any rules for the Internet so post with whatever name you want. If your question is do I think you and the others you mentioned use “bullshit screen names” , the answer is yes. Again, why do you care so much? You really should address that.
I read LG and come here to bounce things off her. She’s an earnest seeker and she goes places I don’t and vice versa. I’m not looking for an “online community “. If you don’t like me don’t interact with me. It’s really pretty simple.
I act differently when addressing things I like than I am when addressing things I don’t like. I’m very consistent. 😊
I read all the comments and indeed this is a place that is intended to develop a conversation. It is you who is wrong in thinking it is meant to be a private conversation between you and the author. Ask yourself why you came to that foolish and pretentious conclusion. If you still can’t figure out, let me know and I’ll be more direct. For your future comments, you and Lil can add a disclaimer that your comments are between you two only and others should neither read them nor comment on them. Situation solved. And yea you’re consistent but probably not in the way you think.
Now let me help you with your rebuke; “Lib, since you use a bullshit screen name and challenge me then you are a …..”.
Now let's talk about you finding your spine against ruinous government overreach. Will you start before or after they confiscate everything you own and throw you in the labor camp?
Mr. Helkenn already does more to stand up to the government by posting under his real name. Your first point was one to think about and has legitimacy. Don't ruin it by reminding people that you don't have the courage to even do what he does.
Leave it alone. Anyone who posts under a screen name better suited to a Norwegian Black Metal musician, using a picture of Ric Flair is not to be taken seriously.
More BS from the BS Government. Just a way to keep hardworking Americans under a repressive Government’s Thumb. Sorry.
I think the problem is that they're spending so much that they have to find ways to make up the revenue.
I have a completely different approach: F#@& you cut spending!
#PiGuy2024: I probably won't make $#!+ any worse!
"I think the problem is that they're spending so much that they have to find ways to make up the revenue." You know, I think you might be on to something there.

Go Team Pi!
Welcome to the Lenocracy, or the Rule of Pimps:

Thank you for that link!
Add my thanks to Lil's.
Great link!
"PSA: Are You a Criminal?"
*sigh*
Yes.
*hangs head*
Stop that - stand up, and be proud to be such a criminal!
I like that advice.
Molon Labe and stuff!
But, on a positive note, you ARE surrounded by millions of other hard working, free thinking criminals.
Welcome to the club.
Excellent!
Will there be snacks?
Sorry. The club failed to obtain the appropriate permits for snacks.
Clever.
Damned bureaucrats
Yet another rant from some ND farmer chick who doesn’t say Thank-you when the government is just trying to help her mind her own business.
Yeah, I'm funny like that.
"ND farmer chick"
There's something about the sound of that I really like.
😂

I remember my dad saying that the bad small boss will get 'promoted' away. They will be in an office and won't mess with the workers anymore!
Yes, a lot of the really good senior directors that I worked with there had come up through the ranks and were well respected by their staff and executives. The less good were shifted to HR often. I think more and more people want that small cabin on a lot and far from the crowds. Closer to Nature and freedom.
Are you any relation to Tyler Durden?
no. DURDEN was the last name of my late husband. no relation.
My condolences on your loss.
Tyler is awesome!
More Tyranny. Just call it was it is.
You’re right; it is tyranny.
What it is🙄
Check into changing your farm to a trust.

That is EXACTLY what they depend on, Pat!
"If it were not for government employees, I have to wonder what the true unemployment rate would be."
I just noted here recently what a large portion of Maryland's 6M peeps are employed directly and indirectly by BigGovSomething.
Someone told me that 1/3 of all MD's Harford Countyans... -ites? we're working at/for/because of Aberdeen Proving Ground. I was one of them.

God-damned syphilitic sons of bitches.
Burn it all to the ground.
Salt the earth.

So much this. Sad.
Everyone is going to have "too much to lose" until they throw you in a labor camp.
At some point people have to grow a spine if they want to maintain their way of life.
Not completely untrue.

How's that work? I'm not sure the alphabet agencies care too much about how you choose post online.
There's mechanisms of power and ways of responding to it courageously. Doxxing yourself to satisfy commenters online isn't one of them.
Hiding opinions that can later be used against you behind a pseudonym is not responding to anything courageously.
I can't wait until they come for me...
